Ramses3000

Like many other creatives, Yannick Verhoeven (Ramses3000) struggles with ADHD, and relaxing music helps him unwind and organize his thoughts daily. Driven to share this sense of calm with others, Verhoeven moved his studio to Park Zuiderhout for three months. Through conversations and attending church services, Verhoeven became inspired by classical music styles, which he subsequently combined with sounds from his own musical world: the world of synthesizers, vintage keyboards, and analog effects. During the residency, Verhoeven explored the function of the brain, gaining more insight into how music calms people. This led to ‘Thalamus,’ the name for the essential brain nucleus involved in processing music. The result is a unique cross-pollination where the classical and digital worlds come together, with influences from ambient, jazz, new age, and psychedelic music.
