Alternative Archieven - Hit The City

Wrong Man

Wrong Man is a band that refuses to fit into a single mold. Blending soulful post-hardcore with bluesy moods, noisy edges, and melodic twists, their sound recalls the spirit of Quicksand, The Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth, and The Wipers, yet feels entirely their own. Born from previous projects like Oathbreaker, Partisan, and Rise And Fall, Wrong Man has evolved with each release, from their ‘90s-inspired debut Who Are You? to the dynamic, contrasting sounds of Big Plans. Their upcoming debut full-length promises to push boundaries even further.

TJE

Belgian trio TJE turned the Dutch diminutive suffix “-tje” into a striking band name. With minimal gear, they create a powerful, atmospheric sound that pushes their instruments toward dissonance and friction. Their debut EP, IDOLS, blends off-kilter electronica, melancholic avant-pop, and experimental post-rock, drawing comparisons to Portishead and Fever Ray. Versyck’s voice has been described as balancing “between childlike naivety and brooding intensity.” TJE has already made a strong live impact in Belgium and the Netherlands and will show why at Hit The City!

Badminton

Born in the attic bedroom of a young boy with an electric guitar, what started as a careful breeze grew into a full-blown alt-rock/garage thunderstorm with a wink to the 90s. Frontman Luca de la Haye joined forces with a soul-baring drummer, a laid-back guitar nerd with a passion for noise, and a powerhouse bassist to complete the spark. Within a year, the four-piece crashed into the Dutch alternative scene, turning twenty-something chaos into catchy, high-energy rock songs about love, self-discovery, and growing up.

Brik Tu-Tok

Moving as a phenomenon through the Belgian underground, musicians Linde Carrijn and Maxim Storms welcome you to their freaky, high-energy DIY universe. Their musical trip is a grotesque collage of catchy synth riffs, weird samples, raw old-school beats, and off-the-hook lyrics. Expect a high-energy party: a poetically disrupted catwalk, which will be bold and salty.

Glazyhaze

Influenced by shoegaze, dream pop and alternative sounds, this band from Venice ranges from dark atmospheres to dreamy soundscapes. Their debut album delves into the complexities of love, narrating a journey of self-discovery and emotional contrasts. Characterized by a personal sound and songwriting, they embrace bedroom pop, post-punk and art rock influences.

badtime

Born as a visual art collaboration in The Hague a few years ago, badtime quickly grew into a multi-disciplinary universe of its own. With electronic drumbeats, pulsating basslines, hypnotic synth and punky guitars, duo Kevin Schuitland and Ioana Ciora will make sure you won’t leave the dancefloor.

gala dragot

Björk's weirdness meets Rosalía's drama, but make it about doom-scrolling at 3am and wanting someone who doesn't exist: gala dragot makes art-pop for girls who feel too much. Bringing glitchy chaos, she serves strings that haunt you and electronics that hit differently. No filter, no label, just vibes and feelings.

Croíthe

Known for their dark, atmospheric sound and intense live performances, these Dublin-based indie postpunkers bring moody guitars, driving basslines and raw vocals. Highly recommended for fans of Joy Division, The Murder Capital, and The Stone Roses.

Ɣazal

Ɣazal came to life from a series of musical sketches by Michiel, upon which Fred responded rhythmically and added groove. Prisca's poetic lyrics and melodic vocal lines reinforced and deepened the songs into a soundscape. Saxophonist Matti Willems joined in and added another fluid voice to the expansive musical universe of Ɣazal. The result: elements of ambient, dub, jazz, and electronica. Songs that unfold and float between retro and neo-soul. Poetry and rhythm with analog effects in the atmosphere of 90s Bristol. Think Massive Attack combined with Burial and Makaya McCraven.
